Femern _udgravninger

Museum Lolland-Falster is currently conducting archaeological excavations ahead of the construction of the permanent link to Germany.

The excavations began in May 2013 and take place on the wind farm east of Rødbyhavn in the area marked Syltholm on the map. A bit further north, the museum has conducted preliminary investigations in an area near the locality called Strandholm, where an actual archaeological survey will subsequently be carried out.

Time will tell whether there is a connection between the two localities. But given the size of the area that is to be explored, there will be opportunities to study the entire Stone Age landscape and not just the individual localities.

We will continually post news from the two excavations, which have already revealed many hidden historical treasures from the past.
